Fez – The headquarters of the Fez-Meknes Regional Football League witnessed a massive consultative meeting, described by speakers as distinguished and successful, to support the list of Mr. Abdel Salam Bouaz, the candidate for the league’s presidency. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Jamal Kanbouli, representative of the Friouato Football Association and on behalf of the Taza Sports Association, presented the sports project included in Mr. Bouaz’s list. He also expressed his hope for the victory of Bouaz’s list, considering the large attendance of clubs as a “seed of goodness.”
For his part, Mr. Abdelhak Mesmahi, president of Amal Sidi Bebbri Football Club of Meknes, affirmed that this meeting aims to clarify matters related to the presidential elections and the formation of the new executive committee of the league. He stressed that the attendance of this large number of club presidents represents a decisive rejection of all forms of corruption that marred the work of the previous administration.
In a related context, Mesmahi expressed his strong surprise at the candidacy of a former executive committee member accused of negligence for the league’s presidency, describing it as “mockery” of the club presidents. He called for a comprehensive mobilization to “cancel or cut off all unethical and illegal actions” that characterized the management of the league.
Mesmahi added, citing the directives of the Commander of the Faithful as the country’s premier sportsman, the necessity of having strong leagues with competent personnel capable of elevating regional football, especially with Morocco’s preparation to host a series of important sporting events. He concluded his speech with an emotional appeal to conscientious individuals, hoping his voice would reach those with good intentions.
Ms. Sanaa El Asmi, president of the Meknes Girls’ Football Club, expressed her honor in attending this large gathering and thanked the club presidents for accepting the invitation. She announced her full support for Mr. Abdel Salam Bouaz’s list, emphasizing the importance of supporting and developing women’s teams, especially with Morocco’s upcoming hosting of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations and the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She also called for transparency and clarity in the management of women’s football affairs.
In turn, Mr. Rachid Rihan, president of the Ittihad Riadhi Aknoul Football Club, described this consultative meeting as aiming to “correct a course” marred by many “flaws.” He praised the role played by some concerned individuals in “stopping the previous general assembly” which would have led the league to a “crime” and a “fatal blow.” He expressed his optimism that the new committee, headed by Mr. Bouaz, would achieve a “restoration of prestige” for the Fez-Meknes league.
Rihan also expressed his club’s full support for Bouaz’s list, praising the man’s “good intentions,” “credibility,” and “composure.” He touched on the suffering faced by some remote clubs like his own, urging the future league committee to “reconsider the division of groups” to alleviate the financial burdens on these teams.
In conclusion, it was clear from the interventions of the attending club representatives that there is a large consensus on the need for change in the way the Fez-Meknes Regional Football League is managed, and widespread support for Mr. Abdel Salam Bouaz’s list, amidst high hopes for achieving comprehensive reform that serves the interests of football in the region.
